Accommodations for Oil Field Workers

Stratton Oilfield Systems has developed a keen understanding of the needs of oil field workers and the results are a resounding success.

A well-rested worker is a safer worker in the field, thus The Studios offer only full or king-sized beds in a quiet, secure environment.

Amenities include:  daily housekeeping, weekly linen service, on-site laundry facilities, keyless building and room entry, DirecTV, Wi-Fi, a fully equipped exercise facility, and private training/conference rooms. The gated grounds are protected by 24-hour security with management and maintenance staff on the premises at all times.

The Two Bedroom Suites are 770 sq. ft., with 2 full size beds in each bedroom, a kitchenette, full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dining area, and a large comfortable living room.  The One Bedroom Suites are 322 sq. ft., with a kitchenette and a spacious, private bedroom featuring a king size bed and a desk.  All the Suites are equipped with flat screen TVs in the living areas and bedrooms.

Recognizing the need for community space, SOS created a large recreation facility on the premises, aka “The Man Cave”.  Residents can enjoy gathering around the 82” HDTV or the pool / domino / gaming /ping pong tables.  Out of doors, guests can enjoy the NBA quality basketball goal, huge gazebos & professional horseshoe pits, all set in a grassed, four acre area.

Convenient Dining for Eagle Ford Workers

There is also a state-of-the-art Dining Facility operated by Taylors International.  This is a full service, commercial kitchen, capable of serving three meals each day to 1,000 guests, in four separate dining rooms, if needed.  There are three hot entrées offered at every meal service, always a salad bar and boxed lunches available to go.  Guests have access to a fully stocked snack & drink area 24 hours a day.

Reasonable Daily Rates

With daily rates starting at $49.95, SOS has catapulted The Studios at Carrizo Springs to the top of the list for employee housing in the area.  It is a safe, clean, comfortable, full-service location that sets a new standard for remote accommodations.  Creating this type of model is not easy, but SOS clearly has it mastered.  Of particular benefit to smaller companies is the fact that long-term contracts are not required.  Stay a night, a week or a month.

Eagle Ford School Districts Prep to Send Money to the State

Eagle Ford Shale Well Map - July 2012
Eagle Ford Shale Well Map - July 2012

School districts in the South Texas Eagle Ford Shale region are preparing to send millions back to the state in coming years. Eight local districts were added to the Texas Education Agency's list of property-wealthy districts.

The reason is skyrocketing property values. In the past two years, property values in the Carrizo Springs district have increased from $441 to $2.5 billion. Cotulla ISD has seen a similar rise.

This year Cotulla will pay in a little less than $1 million, but next year the payment could swell to as much as $15 million. The wealth is welcomed, but it comes with a host of other obstacles. Several of the disstricts employees are living in trailers on site because of an Eagle Ford Housing shortage.

Texas Builders Are Moving to Rural Eagle Ford Areas

Texas builders are moving from San Antonio and Houston into more rural areas of South Texas where the housing market is much stronger. Major home developments have been built in La Vernia, Floresville, and another is on the way in Kenedy. With the 10,000 plus direct jobs and many more indirect jobs that have been created to date, there will likely be a housing boom for many years in rural areas like Carrizo Springs and Floresville.

Now more developers and builders from San Antonio and beyond are moving into the sparsely populated Eagle Ford Shale counties to build everything from housing to pipe yards to warehouses.

Pleasanton native Garrett Ruple moved back home from Houston about two years ago when he realized how much work was available in the Eagle Ford Shale. “All of my friends from college are now in Houston, and everybody and their dog was trying to figure out a way to do projects in South Texas,” he said. “I was watching from afar.”

Here's a recent quote about the job market from a mysanantonio.com article:

While the job market tightened up slightly last month, experts are still calling San Antonio one of the best places in the country to find a job. It looks like the jobs will continue to come in three key areas. The medical, energy and manufacturing industries.

There are still new jobs coming to San Antonio, but there are still plenty of people looking for work at the Workforce Solutions Alamo office on the west side. Among those scouring the internet for work was David and Jeanette Medina. Both are looking for jobs. He's in the manufacturing business and she's a radiologist. If he gets a job first, they'll likely move to Fort Worth. But if she gets a job, it might mean staying here.
