The Texas Railroad Commission reported preliminary production numbers for December 2017 showing the downward trend is continuing. 

Eagle Ford Shale: Horizontal Drilling Increases While Rig Count Unchanged

The state produced 78,085,085 barrels of crude oil in December, compared to 86,259,570 in 2016 and 514,503,830 mcf of natural gas, compared to 652,355,569 last year.

Total 2017 production for Texas dipped across the board. Oil production fell 14323446 bbls over 2016 numbers, though this total will likely shift once final totals are in. Natural gas also saw the lowest production since before 2011.

Texas oIl and gas production came from 180,860 oil wells and 92,289 gas wells in December 2017.

Eagle Ford Production

Karnes County continues to rank the highest in the region for oil production, with 5,519,421 bbls reported for December 2017. For natural gas, Webb County is on top, having produced 35,845,073 mcf for December.
